This non-commercial site describes some rare tree species native to the eastern United States. For each species, there is a description of its characteristics, its ecology, its native range, its conservation status, and how it might be used in the home landscape. Individual articles discuss the Carolina Silverbell, the Mountain Holly, the Cinnamon Clethra, the American Persimmon tree, the Stewartia ovata or Mountain camellia, the Lost Franklinia, and many other rare tree species.
